Gatehouse of Fleet Gala Committee 2008
Provost’s message (continued from front page)
There are so many different things going on for all ages throughout the week that you are bound to enjoy some of them; either as a participant or as a spectator. Gala does not just happen, it is the result of many meetings, discussions, plans and contingency plans and endless worry that it will all work out on the day. It always does work out and for that we have to thank the Gala Committee, for every single one of them sacrifices a lot of time, before, during and after Gala Week. On behalf of the whole community I thank you all, including the “helpers” for each event and the stewards for the magnificent Torchlight Parade. If you only come to one evening event, make it this one - I promise it really is a spectacle to see the whole length of the High Street full of blazing torches. The Fireworks in the Park where the parade ends are always a great show too. Gala Day on the last Saturday is another one I try not to miss. Everyone is there, but, if they are in the parade either as a walker or on one of the floats, you might have a hard job recognising them. I urge you all to take part and hope you will enjoy Gatehouse hospitality throughout your stay with us.
